Weld Root - Weld Root

The weld root is approximated by NAMeS by using the two points in the joint of the weld where penetration starts into the plate material. Often measurements will be calculated using both of these points, and the more concervative number will be choosen.

There are some cases when weld root calculations may use the small weld surface joining the plates in the gap as the weld root. In these cases the surface will be called the outer weld root, or the outer gap points.
